Boaters Lifeline is customer focused (and always will be). Guarding your personal data is of the highest priority. Never will your personal information be exposed, shared, or sold in any form to parties outside of the basic required functions of this website. Our Secure Socket Layer (SSL) website data protection is provided by GoDaddy Secure Certificate Authority-G2. Our website resides on GoDaddy servers, utilizing the WordPress-Sinatra blocked format design and WooCommerce on-line store. Everything is backed by Akismet Anti-Spam blog protection, AntiHacker login access security plus brute force firewall (including Block User enumeration and login fails alerting), and Sucuri Security – Auditing, Malware Scanner and Hardening.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it:

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media:

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms:

Emails sent to Boaters Lifeline via the Contact page always pass thru anti-spam and anti-virus filters before reaching our business email client provided by Gmail Business. Your email address and name are retained solely for follow up purposes and future announcements. All Boaters Lifeline advertisement emails, in compliance with anti-spam laws, provide the option to “opt out” of subsequent announcements. At your request, Boaters Lifeline will remove any or all of your personal contact information from our systems.

Cookies:

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. Boaters Lifeline does not share any of your personal data with anyone.

How long we retain your data:

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. At your request, Boaters Lifeline will remove any or all of your personal contact information from our internal systems.

What rights you have over your data:

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Otherwise, none of your information is shared.

How we protect your data:

All of your contact and purchasing information is stored only on secure, trusted servers. Boaters Lifeline SSL certificates are kept current and provided by GoDaddy.

Data breach procedures we have in place:

In the unlikely event a breach in security occurs, all stored passwords will be deleted and all persons will be notified immediately. Online transaction processes will be suspending pending investigation into the breach and appropriate preventative measures are applied.

What third parties we receive data from:

We do not share (send or receive) any information with 3rd parties other than those listed here for strict purposes of processing Online Store and Check-out functions.

Online Store and Check-out: WooCommerce & Jetpack

By using the Online Store and Check-out extensions, personal data is stored and some data is shared with external services, but only to the degree necessary to process payment.  
Data Used: For payments with PayPal or Stripe: purchase total, currency, billing information. For taxes: the value of goods in the cart, value of shipping, destination address. For checkout rates: destination address, purchased product IDs, dimensions, weight, and quantities. For shipping labels: customer’s name, address as well as the dimensions, weight, and quantities of purchased products.

Payments:

We accept payments through PayPal. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to PayPal, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.

What we collect and store:

While you visit our site, we’ll track:

  • Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
  • Location, IP address and browser type: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping

We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet anti-spam service.
